Plinth Artist, July 2025:
Jo Skinner Book Launch A World of Silence
On the plinths for July 2025 will be Jo Skinner's new book, A World of Silence (Hawkeye, 2025).
Jo is a Brisbane based GP who writes contemporary women’s fiction as well as freelance articles about women’s issues and mental health. She also has a distance running habit. When she is not working or writing you will find
her accruing kilometres while plotting her next story.
Jo had her first story published when she was in primary school where she won a writing competition, with her winning entry being placed into a time capsule. Her great love is writing contemporary women's fiction.
In August 2023, she was delighted to get a phone call from Carolyn Martinez of Hawkeye Publishing advising she had a contract for her novel, The Truth About My Daughter, which was released in October 2024. Her second novel, A World of Silence, was released on 14 April 2025. She lives with her husband and three children.
Join us for an event at Iluka Emporium on Sunday 6th July, from 10am, where the book will be launched along with a fashion display by Michelle Philip.

- Heart and Soul cafe, Prince St, Grafton, between 2 and 4pm, Monday 7th of July. Raising awareness for domestic violence. $14 for refreshments with all proceeds to a local women’s refuge.
